Lakes of Covadonga

In the National Reserve of Picos de Europa, the Lakes of Covadonga have been converted into a myth.

Starting out from Covadonga, 12 km along a winding road, you will come to Lakes Enol and La Ercina, at an altitude of 1,070 amd 1,108 m. respectively.

Lago Enol

Half-way along the road is the Belvedere of la Reina, from where a magnificent view can be seen. The stillness of the waters, and the mountain peaks towering above them, amidst mist and cloud, form an impressive landscape, that justifies the legends that have grown up around them.

In the summer (July 25) the Shepherds Festivities are organised there, ("The Pilgrimage near the Sky").  Many walks are organised from the lakes that enable people to get to know the beautiful area of Picos de Europa.
